I loooove Haruki, he is a total sweetheart  Rihito is so fun, even though he’s a flirty semi-shota Takeshi is pretty cute, kind of a dandere? Ryuzo doesn’t appeal to me at all, but his innocence, earnestness, and cluelessness about women are really funny Johji is probably one of my favorite "older” guys from a Voltage game. The other boys in this game are adorable. Somehow she puts up with Ichigo’s brattiness and helps him mature.Īs for Ichigo, he can be summed up by his own quotes: “I told you I’d grow up, but I’m still a child” and "It’ll take me a while to become a real, grown-up man… But… I’ll work hard for you.“ He’s a cutie who’s still growing up and has to learn to stop being a little kid the MC is right, that he’s coolest when he’s baking because he’s being serious and mature he’s best when he’s being honest with the MC his desire to better himself for the MC’s sake is sweet he can recognize his own faults and feelings, he just reallyyyyyy sucks at expressing them he’s stubborn, possessive, easily jealous, and prone to pouting simultaneously really arrogant but also insecure about himself he’s kind and is secretly sentimental. She’s still a high school student so she has a lot of leeway from me, and her sweetness and earnestness go a long way. Honesty is just so hard for you, huh, Ichigo… But Ichigo was a dick even as a little kid. I like how the game includes flashbacks to when the characters were children those chapters were pretty darn cute.

The ending to the Main Story was super adorable. Ichigo’s and the MC's childhood promises - their wish to see the meteor shower together again and MC’s promise to be Ichigo’s girlfriend/best friend - were sooooo cute. She encourages him and supports him, she helps him reconcile with his father, she tries to help him with his brother, she gets him to admit that he likes the town and loves baking cakes, and she’s what he needs to stop being a brat and finally embrace his true feelings and passions.

I really appreciated MC’s importance to Ichigo because she helps him mature the heck up. Initially Ichigo is mentally immature, sulkily stewing in his rebellious “I’m too cool for school and small towns and my family’s cake-making business” phase. The game can be surprisingly mature about these things, especially in the Sequel. It’s basically slice-of-life a bout some of the typical conflicts of growing up and being a teenager: restlessness, a desire to be independent, sibling rivalry (I sympathized a lot with Ichigo on his feelings re: Togo), conflict with parents while also wanting parental approval, conflict with teachers, wanting to impress your peers, liking someone, etc. The whole scene with Johji going over who could take the MC in when the floor collapsed was perfection. I can forgive him a bit because he’s like 16/17 in Season 1, so he’s still a kid having to deal with teenage angst, hormones, being on the brink of adulthood, etc., and he does grow over the story but still, calling girls names, pushing them around, and pouting is what 8-year-olds do, Icchan~ That said, I loved when the other characters teased Ichigo or manipulated his obvious feelings for/jealousy over/possessiveness over the MC.

I can’t count how many times I wanted to smack Ichigo and tell him to stop being a brat. For someone who’s so worried about his “cool” image, being constantly jealous and an asshole to the MC is really uncool, you know? “I-it’s not like I like…” No, get out. incredibly tsun throughout the Main Story and Epilogue, but he managed to be cute (when he wasn’t being tsun). I (grudgingly) ended up loving Ichigo anyway. I can’t say I was excited about him being so.

Guess you can’t judge a tsundere by his cover… As it turns out, Ichigo in DDiWT is actually a complete and total tsundere, one of my least favorite character types… Urghhhhh, why did you betray my expectations, Ichigo? I went with Ichigo because he looked like he’d be the ore-sama type (my favorite type), he was best-looking, and he has the same name as one of my beloved manga guys, Ichigo from Bleach (same kanji too). But I saw that the later seasons have the characters aged up (and they are way hotter when older), and it turns out the game mostly glosses over sex in the first season. I avoided “Dreamy Days in West Tokyo” because I thought it’d be weird to play high school characters, especially with all of the borderline softcore porn that Voltage does. # Dreamy Days in West Tokyo # Ichigo Sato # Voltage Inc # DDiWT # Otome Game Reviewsĭreamy Days in West Tokyo : Ichigo’s Main Story and Epilogue
